Since 6/2022 and again on 7/2022 10/25/22 1/31/23 service error codes for Stabiltrak, anti-lock brake system and brake assist are constantly displayed, do not work and need urgent maintenance. However when I took it to the dealer they found nothing wrong and on further investigation at another Cadillac dealer they also claimed they found nothing. These errors keep popping up intermittently and my Cadillac app says they need service.
The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. The contact said that while driving at 60-65 miles per hour with his granddaughter in the back seat, he accidentally parked the vehicle in the middle of the road. The low battery message was displayed. After several attempts, the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed from the center of the lane to the shoulder. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic and he diagnosed that the electrical system had failed. An unknown repair has completed. The vehicle has been repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the error. Failure mileage was around 72,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. The contact indicated that while driving at approximately 40 miles per hour, the vehicle overheated and stalled. Power steering assistance is reduced and the Drive Safe message is displayed. The local distributor has not been contacted. The vehicle has not been diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who reported the faulty thermostat, engine, and p0128 trouble code to the contact. The manufacturer has not been contacted. Approximate failure mileage is 43,806.
To remind the department, I bought the previous car in January 2021, as at the time I had to take this car in for repair 3 times for problems with the steering brake and speed reduction and also with the thermostat. Reviewing these consumer reports I found that this was one of the worst years the xt5 was ever made and there was a recall for 2017 but for cars that were being made in 2016. When a car hits dealerships in 2017 it's probably made in 2016. So I want to know why my car has not been notified for a recall and I have to take this car to the shop 3-4 times for the same issue. I would like someone to attend to this situation and reimburse me for my expenses. It was supposed to be a manufacturing problem and GM was supposed to do the repairs for free. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any additional questions or concerns. [xxx] Information redacted under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 and SC 552(b)(6).
Contact has a 2017 Cadillac xt5. Contact detected while driving at different speeds, the car did not accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed. No warning lights came on. The contact indicated that the error occurred mainly in fourth gear or after a complete stop. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealership, but the dealership was unable to reproduce the error. The dealer informed the contact that he had never heard of such a bug. The manufacturer was not informed of the error. The vehicle has not been diagnosed or repaired. Failure mileage was around 55,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. The contact revealed that the passenger side rear brake line had broken. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR BRAKE LINE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the error. Failure mileage was around 66,000.
The vehicle's parking brake system could not be applied, resulting in the vehicle being parked unsafely on slopes/inclines. Dashboard activated service parking brake light. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. They confirmed that the parking brake system was not working. This vehicle has electronic actuators for the parking brake function on each rear wheel. The dealer did not find any faulty components but determined that the vehicle's software was the root cause. The software has been reset and the system is now working as expected. I am very concerned that a software error related to an important parking brake safety system could occur with no known cause.
Contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. Contact was made while traveling at about 5 mph, the engine screeched and the vehicle accelerated with his foot on the brake pedal. The contact did not resemble the warning lights on the instrument panel. The contact also had an incident where he accidentally ran into the garage and the airbags failed to deploy; However, the passenger side of the vehicle was damaged. The contact did not resemble the warning lights on the instrument panel. The local dealer did not diagnose a fault; However, the vehicle was repaired. No injuries or medical reports were required. The contact indicated that the vehicle does not have an emergency brake. The dealer found nothing wrong with the vehicle. The manufacturer was not informed of the error. The approximate number of kilometers lost was 8,000
The engine light comes on, the brake assist service light comes on when the transmission stops idling at stop signs, the Stabilitrak service light comes on after the transmission idles after a stop. This happened twice and I had to get it fixed.
The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. The contact indicated that after starting the vehicle, the shift lever would not come out of park. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who determined that the transmission control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the error, but no support was provided. The fault mileage was 19,000
Bodywork Issue: The vehicle's front left and right air doors creak and creak when opened. There has been no damage or accident to the vehicle, so this function has an error.
The Xt5's comprehensive warranty expired on 1/6/21. Both key fobs suddenly stopped working on 7/17/21. Delivered to dealer on 7/21/21. cost me 0, got it back on 7/26/21. Vehicle driven for the first time after receipt on 7/28/21. The key fob worked briefly again and started working after trying for a few minutes. After driving 5 miles the car came to a complete stop on a very busy highway with no steering, no crossbars, no brake lights, then all of a sudden the car braked really hard and I almost had a kickback. The 4-way turn signals weren't working, so I had no way of warning other drivers behind me. He was also an easy target as he couldn't get out of the vehicle because the doors wouldn't unlock and the windows wouldn't open. The temperature was in the high 80s and I was rapidly starting to overheat. I tried to flag down other drivers, who honked and surrounded me until several stopped to help me. After about 10-15 minutes when I called 911 the doors opened and I was given all 4 ways to enter even though they were working erratically. I called the dealership and they came to get the car. They've had it for a week and they don't know what's wrong with it. This is a potentially deadly security issue; You could have been killed or injured or killed because the car suddenly lost power without warning while you were driving in heavy traffic and then braked hard and unexpectedly, along with the inability to warn other drivers due to the fact that 4th gear was not working to warn that I too could have succumbed to hyperthermia, as there was no escape from an extremely hot car. Looks like after doing some basic research this is not an isolated issue with the 2013-2017 xt5s. There have been numerous reports of similar or identical incidents on various online Cadillac owner forums. Also, a common complaint is that General Motors still hasn't fixed this problem and their dealers can't fix this problem (they still couldn't fix mine!).

Bought this used 2017 Cadillac xt-5 for 4,000, got 11,000, white. I took the vehicle in for a tire and oil change. The service manager told me that these Michelin Premier ltx 235/65 R 18 tires are bad tires in this year 2017. The tire tread was measured. 5/32 @ 11,000 miles These tires are warranted for 40,000 miles. They say replace tires when the tread is 4/32 or less! I think this will happen within the next 5k when I go to my next oil change. I think you should change these tires for free. The dealer said when I came in for an oil change at 16000 miles he said he would replace the faulty rim with a new one which cost £5. He said he would rate the tires proportionately and that he would charge me £0 for it. If those tires are faulty, why should you pay to replace them when they were wrong? Very disappointed with the tyres. I have bought Michelin tires for at least 4 vehicles over the last few years and have never had any problems with the tires!
Stopped at a traffic light and the car lost all power. There's no way to turn on the emergency lights or call for help or anything. In my opinion this is a major safety issue as my wife could have rear-ended as there were no lights in the car and no way to turn on the warning lights. Thank God this happened while I was still and immobile. I can't imagine what a loss of power at high speed means when everything is electronically controlled.
I have the vehicle, which still has a factory warranty, for 5 months. The vehicle started making alarming sounds the first day I drove it (10/16/2020). On Monday 10/19/20 the vehicle went into "Park" while I was driving. The dealer did a quick investigation and called back and told me the battery was the cause of the problem. My immediate questions were: "Why is the battery indicator not showing?" and "why would a low battery make the SUV go to park while I drive it?" However, when the truck was returned to me, the transmission light came on. The electrical transmission controls were replaced due to an undetectable "internal gearbox fault". On 12/21/20, the same concessionaire changed the water outlet, as it found a leak “between the thermostat housing and the water outlet pipe”. On 3/14/2020, after the vehicle had traveled 175 miles at 75 mph, the vehicle suddenly slowed down. The vehicle did not respond to my accelerator pedal. No warning lights flashed and no alarms sounded. Also, the vehicle would not start again after being stopped. Onstar ran a diagnostic report and no codes were found. The thermostat showed a normal value. The Onstar representative recommended that I let the vehicle cool down and then restart the vehicle. I drove home, stopping frequently to let the vehicle cool down. On 03/15/20 I returned the vehicle to the dealership. On 03/22/20, the dealership informed me that it was unable to reproduce the problem and did not find any problems in its diagnostic evaluation. They also did not test drive the vehicle. I was told to come get the vehicle not knowing why the 4x4 stopped while driving on the highway. The 2017 Cadillac xt5 is unsafe and could cause an accident or death. Please examine this vehicle.
For about 2 years we have had an impending transfer of service notice on our 2017 Cadillac XT5, but every time we have taken it to Cadillac they claim they cannot duplicate the notice. I have footage documenting almost every message except twice, including the last one as I didn't have my phone with me at the time. I've been to Cadillac 3 or 4 times for this. The last time we got this message it was followed by a message saying your transmission won't shift anytime soon on the Xpressway and we were driving 65mph in the car with our kids. This time I couldn't take pictures because my husband was driving and I didn't have my phone with me. We took it to Cadillac and they say they can't duplicate the message and they didn't get any code warnings. We have been hearing strange noises when shifting gears and the gearbox seems to be working just fine at the time of this news. The car also drives very differently and hard at the moment. We are very concerned that it could cause a serious accident if the transmission does not shift while driving, especially on the highway.
If the accelerator pedal hits the ground while driving on the city road, the pedal will get stuck and accelerate continuously. There is no way to resolve this if the vehicle continues to gain speed. I was able to use the brakes even with the pedal on the floor; I stepped on the pedal thinking it might come loose and it finally did. This happened twice in the last week. very scary
the stabilization warning keeps coming and telling me to put the handbrake on too. Reading about it, it's a very common warning, causing the stability sensors to fail and increasing the likelihood of an accident from something that should be a safety feature on this vehicle. This creates an unnecessary safety risk that Cadillac will not admit or correct. This only seems to happen when you are stopped at a traffic light or stop sign.
The vehicle is moving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly dies, turns off, uncontrollable. Vehicle does not respond to engine start button. Does not respond to restart attempts, cannot brake, vehicle remains uncontrollable, rolls in cross traffic. All electronic devices are unresponsive, doors cannot be opened to exit. Doors cannot be unlocked, all electronics are flashing, door locks are spinning rapidly, all electronics are uncontrollable. Hazard lights cannot be activated. Onstar system dead, unable to call for help. After about 30 minutes. The vehicle suddenly restarts without warning and starts to run.
Contact Tl* owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. Contact said he noticed an unusual squealing sound from the front while driving at various speeds over bumps in the road surface. An unusual squeaking and growling noise was detected in the driver and passenger seats. The driver's seat appeared to have a hole in it. The traction control warning light came on. Also, the gas pedal vibrated. The vehicle has been taken to Integrity Cadillac (6025 International Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37421, (423) 954-7632) several times and has been diagnosed as needing to replace the passenger seat and struts. The vehicle was repaired, but the error persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and explained that the vehicle was not under warranty. Failure mileage was 5,500.
The front portion of the panoramic sunroof exploded under normal driving conditions and at highway speeds (approx. 85 km/h). It was not hit by road debris or foreign objects. The fabric panel was closed at the time, so no glass entered the passenger compartment.
On March 23rd we took our 2017 Cadillac xt5 to the dealer for repair because 2 days prior the parking brake would not release when stopped. We were able to release the parking brake after turning the vehicle off and on several times. All the warning lights on the dashboard came on, but the brake released and I was able to drive home. The vehicle was ready to be picked up the next day. They replaced the parking brake actuator and claimed that was the source of the problem. The vehicle appeared to be running normally to us and worked until the morning of April 9th. My wife was leaving work that morning and was on her way home when she approached a traffic light and the brake pedal hit the ground, the vehicle could not be braked or stopped. He was able to drive safely through the red light and pull into a parking lot, where the vehicle pulled into a parking lot. If I had run through the green light, I would have been on the highway. A total of 108 additional miles have been driven since the last service on March 23rd. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership where it remained for nearly a week. They found that the master cylinder was leaking into the booster, which led to the failure. The brake booster and master cylinder have been replaced. Upon further investigation, I discovered that several people had the same/similar issues with their vehicles. It seems that all the warning lights lit at the same time was a sign that the master cylinder had failed. *tr
MOONROOF EXPLODED IN NORMAL OPERATION WHILE MOVING ON A FEDERAL HIGHWAY. *BF Consumer indicated that GM would not replace the sunroof under warranty. *jb
Car had starting issues when we bought it at 16,500 miles with full warranty. The car had problems before I bought it. They told us the car was fixed. We drove the car from Florida to Michigan on our first stop, the car would not start. We started digging through the manual and found a handwritten list of steps to take to start the car. We did that and that car started. No problem resolved, we took the car to the Cadillac dealership with numerous attempts to solve the problem, the dealership contacted Cadillac but there is no solution to this problem. How long do I have to stay under the lemon law statutes? wait thanks
Tl* Contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. While the Contact's wife was driving at low speed, the vehicle shut off without warning. After restarting the vehicle, it shut off again. After the second reset, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The contact's wife has tried several times to press the brake pedal and turn the vehicle off using the push start feature, but has not been successful. As a result, the contact's wife fell into a ravine at an unknown speed. The airbags deployed on impact. A police report was filed. The contact suffered minor injuries from the deployment of the airbag in his mouth and left arm. No medical help was received. The contact had the vehicle towed on his property. It has yet to be determined whether the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer has not been notified. Failure mileage was around 33,000.
Brakes screeching. The dealer says he's a nuisance. This happens every time the vehicle is used.
I was driving around on I-95. 75/80 mph when my dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and my cadillac died immediately below 50 mph. The Stabilitrak, Check Engine Light, Parking Brake and Auto Assist lights all came on with a "drive carefully" warning. I had to maneuver my vehicle through three lanes to get off at the next exit. I had no idea what just happened. There was no noise, smoke or any sign that the vehicle had a problem. However, he could only drive the car at 55 mph with the pedal pressed all the way to the floor. It was 4 am and I was an hour from home. Instead of calling roadside assistance, I drove home... taking precautions. I contacted the dealership... Who were unable to make my vehicle wait until the next morning. The next morning, all the lights were out. I took the vehicle to the Cadillac dealer for repair. After they checked my vehicle and gave it a test drive (up to 80mph) they told me they didn't find any issues. No code was stored on the computer system. They couldn't repeat what I experienced. I find that strange. I'm pretty sure a code is stored when a Check Engine Light comes on and a car is not running properly. I am not comfortable with my vehicle. I mostly drive within my small town... I don't need to exceed 45mph a day. However, I have to drive 2-3 times a month on the highway to get to work. I feel very uncomfortable having to drive at high speed again in heavy traffic on the Autobahn. I received no confidence or comfort from the service department. This whole experience let me down with this Cadillac. I can't just get rid of it now and buy something new or trade it in. I feel like I should have received better service and confirmation. Unknown reason. With the engine off and the vehicle in the garage, I reached into the rear compartment to retrieve items and the vehicle moved forward. Once again I leaned back and he moved forward. So I started the engine, but I didn't start it, I just turned it off. I leaned back and the vehicle moved forward again.
I have a 2017 Cadillac xt5 with 22,000 miles, I have just been informed by the dealership that the tires installed on this vehicle are worn and will need to be replaced before the first snow. These tires are warranted for 60,000 miles, tire changes were performed by the dealer according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule. A quick search reveals that this is an extremely common problem affecting this particular GM vehicle. This premature failure is a major security issue and I would like to file a complaint to resolve this issue.
We were driving on the highway and suddenly we heard a loud explosion that sounded like a gunshot followed by noise coming from the highway. The car has a panoramic sunroof which was closed at the time, but we can hear glass breaking over the closed top. I slowed down on the highway and we got off at the first exit. We pulled over and called 911. There was no sign of anything hitting the car; The panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded.
Clear liquid spilled from the rear of the car while it was parked in the garage. Car taken to dealership for maintenance. I received numerous messages saying the part was on hold, not shipped from China, shipped from China, in Michigan, not shipped from Michigan, etc. In the fourth week, I went to the dealer to find out more about the lengthy receipt process. . I was told after the 30 day period that the car is legally a lemon and to contact GM to start the buyback process. I contacted GM nine times and tried to speak to a human. The tenth try got me to "Christina". I was advised to file the lemon rights claim through Nevada as the laws vary from state to state. I went back to the dealership last Monday and spoke to the service manager. He told us that a part was being shipped and that the delay was due to problems with the factory's computers. Options include buyback or repair. Week 7 starts July 2, 2019, my car was at the dealership. Also, there is a knock on the left side when making a sharp turn (into a parking spot). They said they couldn't find anything mechanically defective and that they had "other customers' cars" that needed servicing. I returned the car a week later. A mechanic and I were pulling the car out of the lot and we made a knock knock noise as it turned left. Turn left again into the parking lot and tap, tap again, it takes a full two minutes. He knows the noise and will place a repair order to fix the car. When picking up the car on 05/21/19, I reported that the knocking noise had returned and was now coming from the right side when making a sharp curve.
The car consumes about a liter of oil every 1000 miles. About halfway through the oil change, the engine oil indicator light comes on. So far the dealer has said this is "normal".
This vehicle only has 37,000 miles on it and the factory tires are only 2/32 of the tread. Tires were changed every 5,000 km.
Tl*contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. When the brake pedal was pressed, it went all the way to the floor and the shifter would not move to park. In addition, the service engine warning indicators, the service stabilitrak, the service gearbox and the entire instrument panel were illuminated. The battery was disconnected and reconnected and the vehicle was able to park; however, inadvertently, it started moving again. The vehicle was towed to Plaza Cadillac (8893 US-441, Leesburg, FL 34788, (352) 787-1323) where the chassis controls, engine, transmission and range control modules were reprogrammed. After repair, the brake pedal touched the floor when the shift lever was placed in park. Additionally, the vehicle was stopped at a speed of 40 mph while coming to a complete stop. The vehicle was parked at the curb where it restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was returned to the same dealer where the error could not be reproduced. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the errors and the contact person was informed that the same error had occurred on other vehicles. Failure mileage was 16,000.
The Tl*contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. The contact stated that the headlights (Intelebeams) are designed to automatically turn on when approaching a vehicle. Headlights should be turned off when approaching a vehicle approaching from across the street. The contact indicated that the interbeams were not working consistently. The lights flicked on and off effortlessly due to the contact. The bug caused the vehicle to sometimes not start due to a dead battery. Intermediate beams must be able to be manually turned on and off, but not permanently turned off. The contact was concerned about a possible accident or road rage if the problem was not resolved. The vehicle was taken to American Chevrolet Cadillac Muncie (6580 W Hometown Blvd, Muncie, at 47304, (765) 212-3294) and a loaner vehicle was provided to the contact, but the error reoccurred. THE DEALER HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED BY THE MANUFACTURER NOT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. The contact was in the middle of a lemon process. Failure mileage was 2000. *dd*jb
Premature Tire Wear: Vehicle was fitted with Michelin Premier ltx tires and had to be replaced after 24,551 miles due to 3/32" - 4/32" tread wear. The tires are rated for 60,000 miles according to the Michelin website. The amount of tire wear indicates either a problem with the tires or the wrong tire for the vehicle. Internet searches indicate that this is not an isolated case.
There's a slight rattling noise as the car starts, and then you take your foot off the gas and back on the gas to accelerate. There is a slight rattling noise. This happens during intermittent city trips.
Car wakes up from standby Car stumbles Car stalls. Took it to the dealer 2 times in the last two weeks on Feb 11, 2019. No bugs found. I'm sorry, but this car is broken. already happened 4 times
Just received this car at my house on 1/11/2019, after I turned it on it would not start, ran, then shut off, so went to the dealer while driving on the highway, the car just didn't fully start, so towed to the dealer in the opinion that it's the battery now has to be there monday or tuesday,
After sitting for over 1 hour the brakes are squealing until I hit the brake 5-8 times.
Excessive tire wear. At 17,500 miles, all four tires were worn at 4/32. Now, at 20,000 miles, the tires are down to 3/32 and 4/32, and the XT5 tires last a maximum of 25,000 miles. Went the 3rd complaint of the day at 1am last time I spoke to the dealership. The tire manufacturer warrants (proportionately) the tire for 60,000 miles, but Cadillac Customer Service says the tires are in normal wear and won't fix the problem even with just 20,000 miles. It's a problem with the tire manufacturer or that GM engineering specified the wrong tire. A Cadillac with 20,000 km on it should not be a candidate for new tires and concerns should be evaluated by GM engineering and checked with its dealer network, particularly in the Detroit area. Tires worn at 30% of the projected warranty pose a safety concern, especially on wet or slippery roads when the vehicle's handling is compromised. My dealer points out that premature wear is a common problem with the Cadillac xt5. I have filed a complaint with Cadillac Customer Service, but without investigation they deny that this potential safety issue is a concern.
The "hint" system failed. I don't have a sat nav or radio and I can't see how the climate control controls are adjusted. Also, the 360° cameras intermittently drop out, including the rear camera, leaving me blind when parking or reversing. I have taken this vehicle to the dealer five times and Cadillac has now declared my vehicle a "lemon" and is repurchasing it. Interestingly, I've driven to Cadillac dealerships in Central Florida and noticed a large number of XT5s that have had their dashboards completely disassembled in their service area. A service employee admitted that he has also seen this issue on other xt5s. It looks like it might be a pattern, and Cadillac denies to me that there is a problem.
The panoramic roof of our Cadillac Xt5 cannot be used without extreme pressure in the cabin while driving, if you open the sun visor and open a window, the same thing happens, extreme pressure in the cabin or open the sunroof while driving. The pressure is so extreme that it causes very painful pressure in my ears to the point where I almost crash the vehicle. The dealer and general manager are fully aware of this issue, but they didn't say anything when we tested it, there's nothing in the manual about it, and nothing about how to fix this painful issue. After the initial experience in October 2017, shortly after leasing the vehicle, we asked the dealer about this and both the salesman and his manager were aware of the issue and said it was a problem with all Cadillac models because they had a very cramped cabin . well sealed. This is a huge safety issue due to the implications for the inner ear and the fact that GMC never mentioned this issue so that consumers can make an informed decision about whether or not to have a panoramic roof. In our case, if we had been told how we should be, we would never have rented this vehicle. Gmc must inform buyers/consumers and retailers of this whether or not to offer such sunroofs. I reported this once, ref. #11071918 and I have no answer or response.
The new all-electronic transmission felt awkward when upshifting and downshifting immediately after purchasing the vehicle, and this was reported by Cadillac in its customer satisfaction survey a month after purchase. After five months and 1800 miles the transmission failed completely. Prior to the complete failure the dealer was contacted and asked if there were any recalls or issues with the new transmission and he said there was not. The next day the transmission was eradicated on a 70mph highway and we were forced to stay on local roads and drive home. The car would only be moving at about 10 mph with the engine running when we finally drove the 20 miles home. Onstar activated and diagnosed a serious transmission problem and scheduled a tow to the dealership. The car was towed to the dealer on March 26th and not returned to me until April 15th.
Master Cylinder Failure - A brake fluid error message appeared on the screen and within 24 hours the brakes stopped working. While the pedal was fully pressed to the floor, the vehicle barely stopped. He had the car towed to the dealership for repairs.
Tl*Contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. While driving at 25 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate and the Check Engine Light came on without warning. With contact, the vehicle was dragged to the shoulder and the vehicle stopped. Additionally, the vehicle rocked when the contact attempted to accelerate. North Bay Cadillac in Rosslyn, New York learned of the failure and the engine control module was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer has been informed of the error. Failure mileage was around 1,000.
My car is equipped with an automatic stop function to save fuel. It works fine, but it's very unsafe in the hills here in Seattle. Two weeks ago I was stopped at a traffic light on a hill and the engine died. My right hand was free so I put my foot on the accelerator, there was a delay but before I could take my foot off the accelerator my car swerved at the intersection and nearly ran over a pedestrian walking by. The next incident occurred today when I was at a 4 way stop at the top of a hill. There was a car waiting for me on my left as it was my turn and I stepped on the pedal and there was a delay so I pushed harder. The other car thought I was waiting for them so they took off and then my car lurched forward and came within a foot of them. They weren't too happy and gave me a well deserved finger gesture. I think my car might cause an accident because of this. The dealer said he couldn't disable the feature. I called the Cadillac company and filed a claim but have not heard back from them. I would like to disable the feature. I know it's mileage, but I can afford gas.
My wife and I take our little dog out for a walk and, as usual, he likes to roll down the window to stick his head out. As soon as we opened one (1) window, we noticed extreme pressure in the cabin and pounding to the point of pain and extreme pressure on the inner ear. Back then we also had the sunroof open for the panoramic roof. We closed the blinds to see if that would help lower the window, but the cabin pressure held. The only thing that seemed to help was opening at least a second window at the rear. After this experience, I called Sewell Cadillac in Houston, Texas where we rented the vehicle and spoke to two (2) people about this issue, which we had never experienced in a vehicle we previously owned. I am told that the dealer and Cadillac are aware of the issue and that the issue arose when Cadillac designed this and likely other vehicles and sealed the doors and components to ensure a quiet cabin experience with no air leaks. The issue I pointed out is that Cadillac did not inform us of this in any brochures we had, nor did anyone at the dealership inform us of this prior to the rental. As I told the Sewell Cadillac representatives I spoke with, we have never experienced this with any previous vehicle, and had we known and learned about this issue, we would never have rented this vehicle. I explained that now we cannot open a single window without extreme pressure and pain and we don't like to open additional windows. We believe we have been misled by not educating ourselves about a known issue so that we as consumers can make a decision about whether we can live with it, and in our case we cannot. We also believe this could be considered consumer fraud as they were aware of and never informed us of this issue.
the brakes failed. He reached a stop sign on Cr 13, the brake pedal hit the ground. The brakes did not slow down or stop the car. He slammed on the brakes 3 or 4 times, without braking. Drive through a stop sign and get into another vehicle. Airbags did not deploy. The automatic braking system has not been activated. It is estimated that I was 50 meters from the stop sign when I first braked, going 20-30 mph.
The engine dies when you turn the light back on, it chokes and starts again or in the garage it does the same thing. We have reported concerns to the retailer that this is a factory setting. This is a serious security issue.
After a heavy rain or car wash, using the key fob, outside door handle lock button and auto lock while driving will unlock the doors. All doors will not lock/unlock when the engine is "on" or "off". This has happened several times and is repeatable. The condition improves if the car is parked for more than 6 hours. A similar complaint has occurred before but no water. The problem was fixed by the dealer "reprogramming".
My 2017 xt5 is on Saturday 7/10. completely closed. I was at a traffic light and when stepping on the accelerator several lights on the instrument panel came on and the vehicle became very difficult to accelerate. I had to pull over immediately and then the car stalled. I was dead - the hazard lights didn't work (very scary) and the onstar and SOS button wouldn't connect. After about 5-10 minutes Onstar came online and I was told not to drive the vehicle due to engine and transmission codes. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THE ROADside. On Monday, the dealer loaned me a car while they diagnose the vehicle. On 10/11 when I went to pick up the vehicle I was told that the problem was a "logic lock", the car drove 4 miles and was considered repaired. I rejected the car because we need to know the cause. The dealership still has my car and has yet to contact Cadillac. I am still waiting to hear from them and I have also opened a case with Cadillac Customer Care but they are far from helping. Poor customer service is an issue but the bigger issue is the safety of my car and the fact that it completely died and the dealer thinks clearing some codes will fix the problem. Please help. God forbid this should happen to me or anyone else. It's totally unsafe.

Bought a new XT5 in Feb 2017, currently has 8300 miles on it. After starting my vehicle and putting it in reverse, the transmission makes a loud noise and jerks back. The first time it happened in May 2017, it took me by surprise and the vehicle backed up about a meter. This has happened about 12 times since then and the vehicle has been returned to the dealership for service, no issues have been identified or repeated. Vehicle returned for service again on 8/28/17 for the same reason. In addition, the suspension is very rough, the wheels sag, as if they are constantly shaking, large bumps in the road cause the vehicle to lose traction and go off the road. The steering makes a loud howl/click. The steering was checked in July and a loose mechanical part was found. 3 weeks later the same noise is back. I think the way the vehicle handles bumps in the road is causing the steering problem. Driving around curves and hitting a bump or pothole in the road will cause the vehicle to bounce off the road surface and temporarily lose traction and steering control. Driving the same rented XT5 doesn't have these suspension issues. Also, the audio randomly stopped working. If you turn the car off and on again, the audio may come back.
Tl* The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. While washing the vehicle at the garage, the contact noticed that the interior of the passenger side headlight assembly was clouded. The vehicle was taken to the dealership (ingersoll auto cadillac in danbury connecticut) who claimed there were no faults and that the vehicle was designed that way. The dealer further stated that the headlight assembly would eventually dry out from the heat of the headlight. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the problem. The approximate number of kilometers lost was 2,699.
Tl*Contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. When reversing at about 10 mph with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle accelerated independently. The warning lights came on. The contact had to apply the parking brake to stop the vehicle. An unknown dealer was contacted, but there was no appointment. The manufacturer was not informed of the error. The approximate number of kilometers lost was 13,000. Vin was unavailable.
While traveling at 30 mph on the city street, the engine made a loud roar and slowed down dramatically until it almost stopped, as if she had slammed on the brakes. I had the vehicle towed (1715 km) to the dealership. They kept it for 2 days and told me nothing was wrong. I picked up the car and was driving home, the engine made a loud noise and slowed down drastically again. The next day I took my car to another dealer hoping they could fix the vehicle. They kept the car for 14 days and told me they couldn't duplicate the concerns and didn't fix it. So I took the car hoping this wouldn't happen again. It happened 3 more times. One incident occurred when the engine was passing through the intersection on the city street, making rumbling noises and slowing down abruptly to a near stop. But in this case, when I pressed the gas to move forward and out of the intersection, the car did not budge, it froze. Luckily they didn't hit me in the back. I waited, turned off the car and started again. I could go home. I returned the car to the dealer on 7/19/17 and explained that the car was unsafe as these issues are unpredictable and you can rear end if the vehicle is stopped in traffic. They had the car for 9 days, called me and said they didn't find any problems so they wanted the rental car back. I was scared to drive the car home so the dealer delivered the car to my house and got my lease back on 7/28/17. It's been in my garage ever since because I fear for my safety and that of my family and I don't drive for fear of being run over if the vehicle fails again. I never get a warning before it happens. After it happened and I turned the car off and on, the vehicle seems perfect. But I never know when it's going to break again because it's erratic. It's definitely a security risk.
Difficulty filling the vehicle at the pump. During the refueling process, the fuel nozzle keeps turning off, so it takes time to refill the gas tank. Cadillac isn't sure what's wrong and the vehicle has been waiting for a part at the dealership for over a week. The vehicle has only 7500 km. This is my first Cadillac and probably my last!
When turning from left to right, the driver's seat clicks and you can feel the seat move sideways. This is very common when going through roundabouts. Sometimes when the vehicle is parked and the driver tries to close the driver's door, the same issue occurs.
#1 I'm having trouble seeing through the windshield because the light beige streak is reflecting off the inside of the windshield (sun glare)... #2 I can't see behind me when reversing because the reversing lights are too dim . ..
The Platinum trim (top of the line) has defects that are widespread in premium leather on new vehicles, so bad that the showroom's two premium leather replacement panels are all defective. I first noticed mine a few days after I bought it in Oct 2016. It took me over 9 months to finally find my 5th replacement Dash that doesn't have bad leather, GM/Cadillac involvement! The dealer showed me a brand new XT5 Platinum in their showroom with a premium bubble leather dashboard. Only affects xt5 platinum models as the skin is different. Apparently it's a national issue.
brake loss. The brake pedal broke and the car did not stop. The brake fluid light came on. Towed to dealer, found master cylinder leaking from brake booster. Both parts replaced and problem solved so far. Dealer said it must be a common problem since parts have been ordered. The car's mileage at the time of the brake failure is 8585. The vehicle was moving at the time of the brake failure, my wife was preparing to enter the highway. There were no signs of a brake fluid leak.
I have a 2017 Cadillac xt 5. The lane departure warning does not work as advertised. I spoke with a variety of people, from dealers to dealer representatives to regional managers. After 5 weeks the regional manager told me that ldw was working as expected. He offered me some kind of compensation ( 0 ). He agreed that I was right that the way Cadillac advertised it was wrong and thanked me for finding him. He said that Cadillac will change how they advertise this option. Well great, what do I do with a $54,000 purchase that contains false advertising? I've had LDW on other GM vehicles and I know how they work. Now the problem, when I pass the line, the seat must vibrate or hear a beep. I tried to get both of them to work, but when I crossed the line over 100 times, it only worked 5 times. I was driving 40+ mph and the law was green but I was only warned 5 times. Also, he was about 6 feet over the line every time he fired those few times. My concern is what will happen if I fall asleep or cross the line and crash into the car, the sidewalk, a tree, or a telephone pole. I was also told that since I have lane keeping assist, my vehicle will not be able to cross the lane. Well i tried that too and the car pulls me back a bit but if i pull right or left i hit the lka where my warning is. I can't be the only one who noticed this. Please help me
The car radio keeps dropping the sxm signal while you're driving on the highway or highway, or when you're parked in nearby supermarket parking lots or at our Lowes store. I have written to Cadillac and am awaiting their reply. While not a safety issue per se, it is frustrating and not expected in a car costing close to 000.
After pulling out of my driveway my xt5 stops 2 with stop signs after 3 previous stops, at the next stop the brakes stuck with a sudden stop. I didn't do anything else at the fourth stop when the brakes locked. I noticed that the brake light was on and that I had to press it to drive the car down a city street.
The 2017 Cadillac xt5 luxury FWD model vibrates at all speeds. The accelerator pedal and steering wheel vibrate. The tires balanced and spun without improving the constant vibration. Water splashed from the bottle into the cup holder, the jacket fell off the backseat hook, the eggs broke in the egg carton, all from significant and constant vibration at all speeds.
Tl*contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. While driving on the highway at unknown speed, the vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run accident. The passenger side outside mirror has been cut and damaged by another vehicle. A complaint was made to the police, there were no injuries. The contact attempted to call the retailer but received no response. The lost kilometers were 10,000.
After starting the vehicle and moving the shift lever to reverse, the emergency brake will be arbitrarily adjusted independently, indicating parking on the panel as well as reverse. In other words, the vehicle is in reverse and parked at the same time, as shown on the dash gauge. However, GM told me that the parking indicator displayed on the dash actually shows that the emergency brake is on and the transmission is not in park. If the vehicle can apply the emergency brake on its own when the transmission is out of park, can it do so when the vehicle is moving? If that's the case, it could result in a catastrophic accident.
The automatic shutdown of the car turns off at the moment when the car stops, at stop signs the car can turn off and continue to oscillate when starting. This can lead to an incorrect judgment of the ability to merge with the flow of traffic and cause an accident. The function cannot be configured.
TL*Contact owns a 2017 Cadillac XT5. While driving at about 12 mph the driver's seat made a squeaking and squeaking noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the seat structure was replaced; however, the error was repeated. The contact person also stated that the passenger's rear wheel made a knocking noise when the vehicle went through a pothole or took a turn. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAULT WAS NOT DETERMINED. The error occurred again. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer has been informed of the error. The approximate number of kilometers lost was 3,800. Updated 2/14/17 *lj *cn
I was driving in traffic at approximately 45mph when the parking brake came on, a Check Engine Light, Service Brake Assist, Service Stabilizer, and other lights came on. I managed to get it to work far enough away that it doesn't come from behind, but it's not safe. The dealer has it now and I'm borrowing it. The car has less than 2000 miles on the odometer and this is the second check engine light (the first was not for the parking brake) but the dealership has not found a specific problem with the light. Will it be a recurring problem? It's definitely not safe.
Various issues with garage remote buttons not working. Issue where the driver's seat does not vibrate when the vehicle leaves the lane with the Lane Assist function activated. Vehicle parked while driving on highway and sent multiple alerts about engine failure, parking brake applied, etc.
The faulty top plate has a large swollen area in the center where the adhesive failed or was not applied, and the bottom plate has a bad bulge under the material. These defects should never have left the factory. Bad quality control. Both boards must be replaced by the dealer.
Tl* Contact owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. Contact stated that while parked, the vehicle accelerated rapidly without warning and collided with another vehicle. Airbags did not inflate. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a garage. The manufacturer was not informed of the error. Failure mileage was 7,000.
Tl contact* owns a 2017 Cadillac xt5. When driving in the sun, the windshield acted like a mirror at any speed, reflecting anything off the dashboard onto the windshield. The driver's vision was obscured. The vehicle was taken to a local dealership where the failure was determined to be a safety issue. The manufacturer noticed the error and stated that nothing could be done. The failed mileage was 250... Updated 11/21/16 *bf updated 12/13/16.*jb
I sold this car with a driver awareness package that includes a low speed front brake and I can't get it to work, a salesman drove the car and couldn't get it to work and a Cadillac mechanic at Linus Cadillac in Vero Praia, Florida. I was driving the car and I couldn't get it to start. The car has already been to two dealerships because of this problem and was informed by the last mechanic at the Linus dealership that the system is not working. Cadillac denies this, saying the system cannot be tested but that it is in the car and will work. I've never heard of anything like that. I have a lot of documentation on this topic to attach below. Videos, emails to and from dealer service, etc.
